CAF on lineEgypt to represent Africa in World FutsalAfrican Futsal Championship: all details here!05 September 2004 - Egypt has qualified to represent Africa for the third time in the World Futsal Championship taking place in Chinese Taipei from 21 November to 5 December 2004.
Despite a 5-3 loss to Mozambique in the second final played last Friday in Maputo, Egypt qualified on 15 - 5 goals aggregate due to a 10 - 2 win in the first led played on 27 August in Cairo.
Egypt's first appearance was in 1996 World Futsal Championship in Spain when they also became the first Africa side to win a match in the competition after beating Australia 8-2.
Four years later in Guatemala, Egypt made a second appearance and won two matches. They beat Thailand 7-0 and Uruguay 4-2 to qualify for the next stage of another round robin which included Brazil, Russia and Argentina.
Egypt won one more match by beating Russia 6-2 but lost to Brazil and Argentina.
