Hallam Fall at Last Hurdle


Dreams of Sheffield Hallam reaching the first round proper of the UEFA Futsal Cup were left in tatters tonight as they bowed out of the preliminary round, losing 13-6 to Bulgarian side MAG Varna.

It was a must win match for Sheffield following their 4-6 loss to Tirana in the opening game of the group and the 3-3 draw between the Albanian and Bulgarian sides in the second game.

In the end the experience of the Bulgarians proved too much for the English team who were favoured going in to the fixture due to injuries and absences in the Varna team leaving them with a depleted squad.
