APRIL MANN LEAVES US

April Mann, who has been working with for a short time is heading off for six months to further her soccer career. April is a member of the Australian Women's Soccer team( the matildas) and is about to embark on a tour of Europe with the side. After that she is heading to North Carolina in the USA to play for the GREENSBOROUGH TWISTERS in the women's national soccer league. While over there I asked her to look out for and say hello to any futsal centres/supporters. She will be back with us in September.

HYUNDAI FIVES FINALS RESULTS

The Australian finals of the Hyundai fives was played on the weekend in Sydney. Unlucky to come fourth was SUNNIES who played at Acacia Ridge Futsal Club with our other two Queensland teams knocked out earlier( unlucky because the top three teams are flown to Singapore for the Asian finals).
Congratulations to the Campbelltown Quake Futsal Club team from New South Wales coached by Scotty Gilligan, who came third and qualified to go to Singapore.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR STATE CLUB SELECT TEAMS

A reminder to all players looking at representing Queensland at the national club titles in Sydney next January. YOU MUST PLAY AT THE REGIONAL TITLES TO BE CONSIDERED.THIS INCLUDES THE OPEN MEN AND WOMEN. The only exceptions are if you are injured or are overseas on a futsal tour. In the South East Queensland area all outdoor soccer fixtures have been postponed over the three days of Easter, so players shouldn't have a problem committing to the tournament .

UNDER 14 GIRLS NEEDED FOR SOCCER TEAM

I don't often put an advertisement up for a soccer club but SOUTHS UNITED, a club of which I am a life member, needs girls for their under fourteen years team. Souths is based at Runcorn on the southside of Brisbane, and is next to a railwayline and near major freeways. On the weekend the girls played with only eight players and desperately needs more to sign up to play the season . The team is coached by Nicola Zammit ( who is tournaments director for Queensland Futsal) and Jodi Hammond, and most of the girls who play at the club in the other women's teams are all from Logan or Mt Gravatt Futsal club.
If any girls born 1988 or later would like to come and see what it is like or even better sign up, email me back through the newsletter or ring Nicola at work 32199444. To our interstate or overseas readers, unfortunately you can't reply as we can't afford the plane fares.

Paul Wadsworth, after two years in sunny North Queensland is returning back to South Queensland. Paul has done a great job in ther north and this is exemplified by the gaining of our own stadium, 65 teams in Townsville alone and the success of Charters Towers and Mareeba clubs getting up and running.
