USA Futsal Team travels to Brazil for friendlies this week
14.9.04 - The USA Futsal Team travels to Brazil for a pair of friendlies against the three-time FIFA World Champions in Campo Grande on 17 and 18 September. The stars & stripes are the only CONCACAF team to have defeated the samba kings at the FIFA Futsal World Championship when they earned a 5:3 victory over Brazil in the inaugural tournament in the Netherlands on 12 January 1989 in Rotterdam.
Since then, the USA have gone winless in five matches against the Brazil, which includes their last encounter, a 9:1 samba kings’ victory on 24 August 2002 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Both are in preparations for the 2004 FIFA Futsal World Championship from 21 November – 5 December in Chinese Taipei.
