At this weeks Mundelito tournament in Italy the Brazil team beat Italy 3-1 in the final , with the majority of the Brazilian team being under 23. A reminder to all university students out there that the Northern University games being held up in Toowoomba on the 4th and 5th May will include Futsal for men and women. Queensland Futsal will be assisting the local body in the running of the tournament and you can still get a late entry in for your university, so act now. QUEENSLAND SOCCER FEDERATION ELECTIONS

Sunday saw Queensland Futsal's first attendance at an AGM of the Queensland Soccer Federation as a member of the federation. The meeting was even more momentous as DAVID KAY was elected president and PAUL YOUNG treasurer of the federation. Both are well known to Futsal members as two of our exreferees and David represented Queensland on two occasions at the National Titles. Paul's children Natasha,Michael,Brendon and Lauren are also well known players in the futsal world.Hopefully this should be another action that will bring soccer and futsal closer together.

REGIONALS DRAW

The draw for the regionals will be on the website at 9.00 am this Wednesday morning. We apologise for lateness but with a few teams still unsure we had to hold off as long as possible.Go to www.qldfutsal.com.au

REGIONALS DINNER

Due to lack of interest the regionals dinner for Sunday night has been called off. Also, Wet'n'Wild tickets for Tuesday can now only be purchased at the gate on the day, not from Queensland Futsal.

SCHOOLS FINALS RESULTS

All school finals except for one have been finalised. The open boys champions for this year are Harristown High from Toowoomba and the open girls champions are Cavendish Road High from South Brisbane. For full details of all finals go to the news item on the website mainpage at www.qldfutsal.com.au Photos of all the winning teams are in the library section of the webpage. For the statistically minded we had a 10 % increase in teams from last year.

FEEDBACK RE SCHOOL TITLES

Now the South Queensland school titles are complete we are keen to get back feedback on the running of the competition.

Please write back to the newsletter with some constructive comments particularly in relation to the following questions:

1. What did you think of the new ball ?

2. With each age group now attracting around 50 entries, should we look at a ' plate' or ' repecharge competition at the final 16 stage i.e should the losers of the 8 elimination games go through a knockout to a plate final ? We are looking at this due to the fact that the specialist futsal and soccer schools are beginning to dominate the finals.

3. Should semi-finals play extra time rules, rather than the winner after a draw is the team that finished highest in their group ?

4. Any other comments.

YOU KNOW YOUR GETTING OLD WHEN...........

As I was ' landed' with the job of giving out the medals at last weeks finals, I certainly got through a lot of hand shaking. However you certainly realise how quick time flys when you start giving out medals to the chidren of people you coached. Kyle Van Der Ryken and Jon Burden were members of the eleven years Yugumbir team and although I hadn't seen their fathers in at least ten years I could tell who they were. Both Glen and Alan played at Souths United Soccer Club when I coached there 15 years ago.

A similar meeting will be held in ACT at the same time .

Did you here about the Federal Politician who was found dead in an Arsenal shirt ? The police had to dress him in women's clothes before others arrived to save his family embarrassment.

Denis Berghamp had just finished training at the Arsenal field when his team and housemate Partick Viera asked him if he pick up a carton beer at the shop on the way home. Walking out of the shopping centre with his purchase he runs into coach Arsene Wenger. ' What have you got there ?' asks Wenger.
' Oh' says Denis, ' I got a carton of beer for Patrick Viera. '
' Gee... thats a good swap. ' says Arsene.

JOKE THREE

What do you do if an Arsenal fan throws a handgrenade at you ?

Pull the pin out and throw it back

JOKE FOUR

What is the difference between Arsene Wenger and God?
God doesn't think he's Arsene Wenger.
