Russian Futsal, round 8

Thanks to the help of Vladimir Romanov we can offer to you a special report from the past Moscow derby between Arbat and CSKA. Enjoy it!

CSKA, MOSCOW FLIES UP

(Red-blue players won twice over Arbat, Moscow)

That was the third time for F.C. CSKA in the current championship when Alexander Babkin's team won twice in one round. Red-blue guys obtained the same results in the matches against Geolog Novy Urengoi and Spartak Moscow. This time the team won 7-5 and 3-1 though those matches were guest ones and were played not in USK CSKA but in USZ Druzhba.

As for the first match the CSKA head coach A. Babkin was not satisfied with the quality of the playing. His guys made a lot of mistakes that is why there was a period when CSKA lost 3-4 and 4-5. It was practically impossible to do something against brazilian international Pula that helped Arbat to lead. But anyway that was CSKA evening. The players understood they could not lose a chance to better their position in the Superleague classification. Three times they used awful mistakes by 40 years Gennady Afanasiev (former CSKA goalkeeper). The Antipovs (Alexander and Serguei) as well as Arsh scored without any opposition.

The second match played on Saturday looked very defensive. CSKA had to act as the second number – few attacks and too much pressure in own field. Alexander Voronin, CSKA goalkeeper, made 25 saves a match. Thanks to him red-blew players lost only one goal (it is a good result for this team). According to its ancient tradition the five field player of Arbat came on to the ground. For five minutes running it tried to save the match. For nothing…
So, at the moment CSKA goes fifth in the classification. The distance to the third position (the main aim of CSKA for the season-04/05 is to be one of three best Russian teams) is very little: one point to Dina and two – to Spartak-Schelkovo. This week-end there will be round 9 of Russian Superleague Championship. CSKA will play vs Norilsk Nickel on its own ground (USK CSKA). The matches will be held on December, 24 and 25. By the way, now the Norilsk team is head by Igor Podshivalov and Andrei Ilyin, former CSKA coaches.
