RUSSIAN SUPERLEAGUEROUND 12
MISSING WARRIORSProbably, there were the worst matches of CSKA during this season. Red Army team played against one of the outsiders – Geolog, Novy Urengoy. It needed 6 points in two matches. Unfortunately, CSKA again got just one.
Of course Alexander Babkin's team became weaker because of traumas and regular sending-offs. Four players from the traditional starting list missed the first match (Arsh, Kopeikin, Voronin, Sergueev). On the following day the sent-off defender Maltsev joined this group. However the final result – one draw and one defeat with negative goals difference 10-13 - can't be justified. The time to take serious measures has come. Now CSKA is too far from the third position. Under current circumstances it is very difficult to carry out the main task of the season – to win medals.
It is curious that during both matches CSKA players led the score. Their advantage referred to two goals. But each time this difference turned into nothing. The guests neutralized the advantage, equalized the score and ran forward. On January 21 red-blue guys managed to escape a defeat. On January 22 their attempts to change the poor situation on the ground had no success. The Geolog players looked more active. They held their combinations faster than their opponents and, honestly, used speedy counter-attacks to score more and more.
CSKA goalkeeper Oleg Tolstikhin lost himself. Some awful mistakes made by this guy spoiled CSKA playing. His colleague from the other side – Alexei Raevsky – felt sure. His saves had much influence on an excellent result for Geolog. By the way, red-blue guys could ease their lot. Six double penalties for two matches is a real chance to win. But four 10m kicks ended with nothing. Only A. Antipov was successful twice. Though, as it is said in Russia, one player on the ground is not a warrior.
Next time CSKA will play in Shelkovo against Spartak-Shelkovo (third place in the table). The matches are planned for February 4 and 5. The coaches set hopes on some players that should recover in a week.
