Hellenic National Team Back in Business

The Greek National team gathered again Wednesday for its first training session of the year. After a dead period in the past 12 months where the league was discontinued and the National Team remained headless, it was about time things started to roll again. National Team Head coach Grigoris Gougoulitsas invited 17 players from around the league and trained them for more than an hour at Olympio Arena of Platon. In this day (2/3) Gougoulitsas was happy to see enthusiasm and hunger for the reunification of the team and stated he is eager to start training on a regular basis with the team in order to prepare them for the upcoming qualifiers of the next
Euro in 2007. In the mean time Greece will play a number of friendly
matches and travel around the continent, to get acquainted with the style of play and level of their European counterparts. The Federation is examining propositions by the British Federation, as well as others for home and away friendly matches.

Gougoulitsas invited the same players as before with the addition of two new players from this year's surprise team of Platon. Yannis Mostrios and Haris Grapsas wore the National Team's uniforms for the first time and were happy to become part of the National team family. In early statements they both stated they feel proud to be selected and will work hard to help the team be successful.
