 The Norfolk County Futsal League has officially registered it's 74th futsal team for league play in 2005, making this the largest such futsal league in all of Massachusetts and perhaps even the largest such league in all of New England. Norfolk County Futsal League (NCFL) is run under the direction of Bill Sampaio, who is also the National Director of Coaching for the United States Futsal Federation. NCFL is an affiliate futsal league of New England Futsal (NEF) and operates as a United States Futsal Federation (USFF) sanctioned league. The United States Futsal Federation is the officially recognized national governing authority that oversees all Futsal league development, policies and competitions throughout the United States under the auspices of the United States Youth Soccer Association and FIFA. In this our inaugural year, the NCFL placed teams as Massachusetts State Champions or as 1st Runner-ups in all divisions of play, ranging from U10 to Men's Open at the 2005 Massachusetts State Cup Championships played in January 2005. Additionally, NCFL coordinated sending 13 of it's league's futsal teams to compete at the United States Futsal Federation's Region 1 Championships held in Monroeville, PA in February 2005. Twelve of those teams advanced into the semi-final match round play and 3 teams, including the Pride FC BU10 of Fall River, New England Futsal Mens team of Fall River & the GU16 Shooting Stars of Natick made it to Final round match play. All three of these teams qualified for the United States Futsal Federation's 2005 National Futsal Championships that will be held next July in Anaheim, California Norfolk County Futsal League's regular season games are played on four adjoining futsal courts each weekend at the state of the art Dana Barros Sports Complex in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The NCFL sponsored New England Futsal Academy offers personalized skills and technical training to futsal players from age 6 through 18. Training sessions are held on weeknights a the Forekicks Sports Complex in Norfolk, Massachusetts. Training sessions are highlighted by coaching direction given by Coach Bill Sampaio and Professional Futsal Goal Keeper Julio Cesar Franco. "This is quite a milestone for our organization", says Coach Sampaio. "We have stepped in and stepped up big time and we are both proud and humbled to know that in some small way we have helped to properly develop the sport of Futsal in the New England region". "In addition to the Norfolk County program, our Fall River Futsal and Catholic Youth Futsal League programs continue to attract more and more players and teams. Our East Bay program is now in the formation stage and we are hopeful that this league will follow in the steps of these three successful programs as well", says Sampaio.
