This morning started the 10th edition of the only national league (obviously not considering the "Taca Brasil" as a "league") in Brazil, created in 1996 and sanctioned by CBFS. The Liga Futsal 2005 will count on 16 top brazilian clubs from different states of the country, including the title holder Carlos Barbosa and the 2004 runner up Ulbra. The inaugural match of the current edition went to John Deere Futsal, club "gaucho" which obtained an important and surprising away victory over the "paulista" ECB/São Bernardo (which could not celebrate its 50th futsal anniversary), with the only goal of the match scored by the John Deere pivot Carlos Andrè during the second half (we will publish the match details later, together with the other matches of the first day).

The first stage of the Liga Futsal will be played on a one-leg competition. At the end of the first stage, the best 12 teams classified will be shared into two groups of 6.

Group A: 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th 9th and 12th classified
Group B: 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th and 11th classified

In each group will be played a two-legs competition (home and away matches) that will determine the four team reaching the semifinals.

Semifinals and final matches will be played on two matches (home and away games). In case of equal points gained after both matches, a third match will be played.
