UEFA.comDinamo down Murcia to reach finalTuesday, 22 March 2005MFC Dinamo Moskva have made sure that the UEFA Futsal Cup will not go to a Spanish side for the first time in its four-year history after defeating El Pozo Murcia FS today.
Win required The Russian champions had to overcome the Spanish side in the final Group B mini-tournament encounter being played at Druzhba hall in Moscow as, although both teams had taken two wins from two games, Murcia had the better goal difference. However, Dinamo managed just that in front of an ecstatic home crowd, winning 5-4 to progress to next month's two-legged final against Belgian champions Action 21 Charleroi.
Shakhtar pride In the day's early game, FC Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine salvaged some pride with a 4-3 victory against Belarus's FC Dorozhnik Minsk after both had been defeated in each of their first two games. However, while both clubs and Murcia contemplate what might have been, Dinamo can start preparing to face Charleroi on 23 and 30 April.
Spanish success Playas de Castellón FS won the first two editions of the UEFA Futsal Cup in 2002 and 2003, beating Belgian contenders Charleroi in both finals, before Boomerang Interviú FS were crowned champions of Europe last year with a 7-5 aggregate victory against SL Benfica.
