Thanhnien NewsVFF unprepared for Asian Futsal ChampionshipThe Vietnam Football Federation is at a standstill in preparation for the 2005 Asian Futsal Championship due to lack of finances, said sport authorities this week.
Although the event is scheduled to kick off May 20 to June 4 at HCMC’s Phu Tho Sports House, the failure to attract sponsorship totaling VND2.5billion (US$150,000) is reportedly the main reason leading to the deadlock.
In early 2005, the VFF organized a national Futsal competition which was widely seen as low in technical quality, as a result, the VFF have been ineffective in attracting a sponsor.
The Asian Futsal Championship 2005 has invited a total of 24 teams from countries and territories in the region.
