Thanks to the help of
Vladimir Romanov we can offer to you a special report from the past match between CSKA and Dinamo Moscow. Enjoy it!
RUSSIAN SUPERLEAGUEROUND 18TWO DIFFERENT PERFORMANCES From the statistic point of view the total result of CSKA performance at round 18 was good. Three points against the UEFA CUP finalist could not help making red-blue fans happy. If CSKA had made two draws, it would not have been so interesting for the red army. Two points cost less than three. So, one victory and one loss were not a sign of catastrophe. But a defeat with a score 1-8… It killed the imaginations of the first day.
On the first day Dynamo wall was broken. It looked like sensational. At the moment Dinamo, Moscow is like Dina of the 90-s. No one can oppose blue-white power. They are not only current champions of Russia, they are practically the best here for three years running. It is impossible that they should lose the third national title. All Dinamo needs now is to win Action-21 Charleroi in two matches battle. Nothing else. In Russia it is possible to go after Dinamo. To be better and stronger and higher? Only next season or seasons.
That is why the victory of the seventh team over the first one let CSKA fans dream about double miracle. But it cannot come twice. As for the first match red-blue players really desired a crucial result. They were not afraid of the best Russian players and best Russian international players. They scored two same goals from a long distance after good corner combinations. At the second part the Antipovs ran faster than anyone on the field. Dinamo goalkeeper Stepanov stayed alone against them. Serguei made a wonderful pass, Alexander did not lose his chance. Sooner Serguei was sent off – two yellow cards for about twenty seconds. Playing four vs three blue-white guys reached a goal. CSKA did not surrend. More fast attacks and more aggressive defense let them lead. Dinamo wanted a draw as a minimum result. Joan acted as the fifth player on the ground. But Kolesnikov found himself alone near empty net. Tolstikhin “read an episode” clearly, he threw the ball in the right direction. Kolesnikov kept patience. A good head kick eliminated blue-white hope for salvation.
Alexander Babkin (CSKA head coach):
- I do not think we should appreciate such a result. A victory is always pleasant bud we can't help taking into consideration Dinamo problems. The players came through the UEFA CUP final. They look tired. That is obvious. By the way S. Ivanov and Pelè Junior missed the match. That made our task easier. The CSKA players wanted to win. They did their best. But I will repeat: this Dinamo was weaker than usual.
On the following day CSKA fairy-tail died. Champions of Russia held a great show with 8 balls into red-blue net. The performance of Dinamo disappointed CSKA fans but they were not angry with their favourite players. They immediately forgave them because of the first day result. “We believe in our team”, they shouted as if CSKA really had won. The players greeted the supporters though they felt shame. Dinamo played as it wanted, CSKA – as if it had not wanted to get anything good. Many holes in the defensive line, low speeds and few goal passes in the offensive one characterized the CSKA mode of playing from a negative point of view. But as always there is a hope that the black day is over and in some days CSKA will look much better against its historical opponent – Spartak, Moscow.
Alexander Babkin (CSKA head coach):
- No doubt, we failed the game. We looked awful. Yesterday my guys were too happy to be ready to oppose Dinamo once again. I had to change the lines. The changes had no effect. Unfortunately, CSKA players thought they had their mission done. It was not so but they ignored all my tasks, all my demands. No defense and very poor attack are what we saw on the ground. I hope red-blue players will forget this match, throw it out of their mind. As for Dinamo I congratulate this team with an absolutely just victory.
