Norfolk County Futsal League

Several New England Futsal affiliate teams are preparing to compete at the 20th Annual United States Futsal Championships being held July 14-17th, 2005 in Anaheim, California.

Teams such as the Colombia Pride of Framingham, Massachusetts, New Bedford Pit Bulls from New Bedford, Massachusetts, New England Futsal Academy of Mansfield, Massachusetts, Pride FC of Fall River, Massachusetts, the Shooting Stars of Natick, Massachusetts are stepping up their practice regiments in preparation for the honor to compete for the National Futsal Title this coming summer. These teams, without exception, are very talented and all are legitimate contenders. For the one time National Champion Colombia Pride this will mark their second quest for the national title and the U16 Shooting Stars Girls of Natick will compete for the honors to be national champions for the 3rd time since 2002 and who have qualified for the national championships for 4 years in a row!

New England Futsal affiliate leagues and teams are sanctioned by the United States Futsal Federation which is the national governing authority that oversees all Futsal league development, policies and competitions throughout the United States under the auspices of the United States Youth Soccer Association and FIFA.

"The National Championships represents the final event in this, the first year of operation for us here at New England Futsal", says Coach Bill Sampaio, President of New England Futsal and National Director of Coaching for the United States Futsal Federation. "We registered well more than 100 teams with the USFF. These affiliate teams participated in our various leagues and programs since last November. Players from the age of 8 on up through to adults took advantage of the opportunity to increase their foot skills and passing skills development by playing in our Futsal competitions and training programs. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and it is clear to us the New England is indeed ready for Futsal!" "That is why we say that New England Futsal is here! and here to stay", says Sampaio.

Now that we are in our off season we are already beginning preparations for an even greater response for the 2005-2006 season. With the possibility of having the 21st USFF National Championships held on the east coast next year we are preparing for a HUGE representation from New England Futsal Affiliate teams, clubs and leagues in 2006!
