Brunei Press Holds Futsal Competition For Staff

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei Press Sdn Bhd yesterday organised a 5-a-side futsal tournament for employees of the company, which took place at multi-purpose hall of the JKR sports complex.

The day-long event was divided into two competitions, the league and the FA Cup.

Eight teams took part in the league, with the two top teams from Groups A and B qualifying for the semifinals. Group A consisted of AQ FC, DLA Towing Service, Takarawat and Hantam Saja while Group B was made up ofAF3, Ewah-Ewah Football Team, Projek lkan Bilis and Family team.

The league was won by DLA Towing Service, who beat AQ FC 5-4 on penalties after both teams were tied 1-1 at the end of normal time. AF3 were third, after defeating Ewah-Ewah 4-2 in the playoff.

DLA Towing Service also made it to the FA Cup final, but this time, AQ FC turned the tables around by beating DLA 1-0 to claim the trophy.

The Deputy General Manager of Brunei Press Sdn Bhd, Hazizah Osman, presented the prizes for the winners in the league, while Production Manager Norhashim Ibrahim gave away the prizes to the FA Cup winners.

Md Adip of DLA Towing-Service won the "Best Player" award, while Md Alif of AQ FC was the top scorer award after netting 7 goals.

The best team award went to AF3. The tournament's trophies and medals were sponsored by DLA Towing Services, and Zudin Sports and Events Management. The tournament was the first to be organised by Brunei Press. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
