Futsal England Team off too Transilvania!

The Futsal England squad are once again on their travels and this time its Transilvania that beckons ! News from FC Transilvania Tirgu-Mures, who are the local futsal team making all the arrangements, is that the double-header fixtures will be capacity sell-outs. The Romanians are no strangers to the English and have had the pleasure of England’s top two professional Futsal players Jay Corran and Andy Reading who have recently returned to the UK following a championship winning season in Romania with 2005 Champions Odorhei Secuiesc. However, neither are included in the England squad, a fact that some would comment as rather strange, as their professional futsal experience would most certainly be useful for the up and coming youngsters within the squad.

Dell’s young squad once again features a number of uncapped players as his F30 player development program continues its course. There is a welcome return for the redoubtable Graham Smith after making a successful recovery from a hamstring injury sustained last December. And where would England be without Mark Canham………also included in the squad.

The last time the Lions met their Romanian opponents they were severely thrashed 13-3 in front of a home crowd of no more than 50 in Manchester back in December. These matches will be a good measure of our progress and the effect of the F30 plan. Lets hope that we are able to turn the tables!
