A meeting of Boomerang Interviú FS and Erregi Travel Perugia was one of the highlights of today’s 2005/06 UEFA Futsal Cup first qualifying round draw in Switzerland.
Two from BelgiumIn all, 34 clubs, representing 33 countries, have entered this season's competition. Belgium's top team Action 21 Charleroi qualify as reigning champions, having beaten MFK Dinamo Moskva in the 2004/05 final, meaning Belgian runners-up Cristal Noir MB Morlanwelz are also able to take part.
Spanish successAlso involved this time around are Spanish side Boomerang, the winners in 2004, and the team they beat in that final, SL Benfica of Portugal. Now in its fifth edition, the UEFA Futsal Cup has been largely a Spanish success story with Playas de Castellón FS having won the first two titles in 2002 and 2003, both at Charleroi's expense.
London callingThe competition will get started from 10-16 September when English representatives FC White Bear London stage a four-team preliminary round mini-tournament involving France's first-ever representatives Roubaix Futsal. The top two teams from that stage will progress to the first qualifying round, which will be played between 8-14 October.

UEFACharleroi crown up for grabsMonday, 4 July 2005 The lineup for the 2005/06 UEFA Futsal Cup has been confirmed with 34 clubs representing 33 countries in Thursday's draw for the preliminary and first qualifying rounds.
Highly competitiveBelgium's Action 21 Charleroi qualify as holders having defeated MFK Dinamo Moskva of Russia in April. Both teams are back again for the fifth staging of the premier club competition in European Futsal. Also involved are Spanish side Boomerang Interviú FS, the winners in 2004, and SL Benfica, the Portuguese club who were runners-up that year.
Two from fourEnglish entrants FC White Bear London will have the honour of hosting the preliminary round, taking place from 10-16 September. The top two teams from that four-sided round-robin tournament will progress to the first qualifying round, which will see eight groups of four played out between 8 and 14 October.
Live drawuefa.com will carry the draw live from 11.30CET. With the four-team preliminary round group already known, the draw will concentrate on the composition of the first qualifying round. The clubs have been seeded according to UEFA's coefficient system and the host clubs for the eight groups are already decided.
