NSW futsal glamour club Sydney Magic has announced a strategic merger with NSW 3rd Division State League club East Coast Magic that is the first of its kind.
In future, both clubs will be known as Sydney Magic F.F.C. or by its formal full name of Sydney Magic Futsal Football Club.

Sydney Magic Futsal Club has fast established itself as one of the strongest clubs in NSW, having achieved much success in the two years since breaking on to the futsal scene. The club has taken out numerous State Championship and State League futsal titles whilst
producing plenty of representative talent for NSW state teams.

Sydney Magic is setting the standard not only in playing quality but also vision. The club has upped the ante again with the announcement of this merger with the 11-a-side football club. Contrary to popular
belief the clubs have no previous association.

“Having the chance to merge with an outdoor club was an opportunity too good to resist. When East Coast approached us to merge and agreed in the future to change their name to Sydney Magic it was a done deal” said Archie Kazas, Vice President of the new merged club. Archie also holds senior coaching positions in both football codes within the club.

Matteo Maiorana, Sydney Magic F.F.C Club President said, “It was always our ambition to firmly establish ourselves in futsal and then expand into the football side of things down the track. But it’s all happened so fast - I never expected the success to have come so
quickly. Archie and I have both played or coached at the highest level and we have seen what makes a good club; what you should and shouldn’t do.

“So far it has been a smooth ride, which has made it enjoyable for both our officials and players. The most important thing to us was not to take full control of the football club but to have the
opportunity to get involved in the football side of things and to continue to improve, strengthen and increase the awareness of the club in general.”

East Coast Magic’s Paul Croci added, “The merger has been fantastic. We still have the East Coast people on the board plus some really enthusiastic futsal people who have created something out of nothing in a short period of time. Hopefully we can work together to make the football operation as successful as the futsal club has been.”
East Coast Magic, as it is still currently known – the name will officially change to Sydney Magic F.F.C in time for next year’s competition - continue to play out of Camdenville Oval at St Peters, while the futsal arm remain at the Johnny Warren Indoor Stadium
(Hurstville Sports and Aquatic Centre).

With the inclusion of many Sydney Magic futsal players in the East Coach Magic playing roster, the 3rd Division football outfit is in a very strong position with both grades currently sitting in the top 4.

For further information on the club you can find information on the club website www.sydneymagic.com.au, or call Club President Matteo
Maiorana on 0410562695. Anyone still interested in playing for East Coast Magic this season can call Club Secretary Paul Croci on 0408 415 802. Registration cut off date is June 30.
