SO CAL FUTSAL ACADEMY WINS THE US NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE 20TH ANNUAL US FUTSAL FEDERATION NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

So Cal Futsal Academy (SCFA) Womens' Open team wins its 2nd consecutive US Futsal National Championship this past weekend at the 20th Annual United States Futsal Federation National Championship Tournament which was held July 14-17 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The SCFA Womens Open team successfully defended its 2004 National Championship by defeating 5 other teams including the 2005 Midwest Regional Champion, El Paso Eagles from Texas, 2-0 in the Championship match. Along with the Women's Title, 13 other National Champions were crowned this weekend from the 110 competing teams representing their states and regions across the United States.

Members of the team were Jennifer Tanaka, Tawny Poggio, Kristi Tanaka, Kat Avendano, Madison Klovstad, Laura Quintero, Erica Janke, Sahar Haghdan, Lauren Cram, Darci Gwartz, and Claire Beitcher.

"El Paso was very tough for us, we faced them last year in the final match and we knew it was going to be a difficult road for us" said SCFA Technical Director Garett Hoshijo, "we had to be at the top of our game in the Championship match to come out with the win."

Since So Cal Futsal Academy was founded in 2003, it has won 5 US Futsal Federation National Titles. SCFA runs winter futsal leagues for teams and academy training programs for players during the winter and spring months.
