Indonesian FutsalAugust 2005
by Justin Lhaksana
As many people knows in South East Asia there is no regular competition, even in Thailand ( 11th world ranking ) no regular competition exist. The story in Indonesia is almost the same, but we do have 1 regular competition for the last 2 years. Unfortunately this competition is only dedicated for students in Jakarta.
Please do not underestimate their quality. As a national team coach I'm very glad of the existance of this student Futsal League, because the 80% of my players that participated in Asian Cup 2005 in Vietnam came from this league. One huge problem occured: how can you spread Futsal as sport throughout Indonesia ??
One of the solution is by bringing them together to play in one tournament. This is what
DIFAMATA EO did. From 5-10 September 2005 in Jakarta DIFAMATA organized a National Futsal League among the students, this event will be participated by 8 strong teams from Jakarta and 8 teams outside Jakarta. In Jakarta itself the
developement of Futsal is unbelievable, but also in the other area Futsal grows slowly but surely. This kind of event is not avoidable for the growth of Futsal in Indonesia. I would suggest to organize this events throughout the big cities in Indonesia periodically. Meaningly that each teams can learn from each others
and step by step will decrease this gap automatically.
Another problem that must be solve is the way of the majority of Indonesians play Futsal. Due to lack of knowledge, majority of our players still do it on their Football style, lots of individual skills but less of team work. Only very few teams in Jakarta has learned how to play modern Futsal with lots of movement. Though it is to less to impress the international Futsal world, according to me this is an important progress. Due to this event other teams will open their eyes and hopefully learn how to play modern Futsal. When
this kind of tournaments will be held more often in the near future,
automatically Pro League Futsal wouldn't be a dream anymore in Indonesia. After 4-6 years the world will know the Indonesia can play Futsal well.
The teams that will be participated in National Futsal League are:
Group A1.Universtas Kristen Indonesia (Jakarta)
2.Institut Islam Darusalam (Yogya)
3.STEI Bakti Pembangunan (Jakarta)
4.Universitas Muhamadiyah Yogyakarta (Yogya)
