Futsal HellasSeason opening for the Hellenic League with five good contests. Last years' top placed Athina '90 overcame Kosmos in a tough away win 3-6. Kosmos fought well and was leading at halftime 3-2. In the second half Athina '90 came back and went ahead with 2 goals by Michalis. Platon had an easy evening at Iniohos where the home team was overwhelmed 2-8. Kavadias had 3 goals for the winners and Mourkovitis 2 goals for the home team. Ethnikos Asteras beat Minotavros in a tough battle which saw the first win for the new coach Yiannis Ziavas. Priftis had 4 goals for the winning side. In
Ilioupoli, Dias won the game against newcomers Salamina the hard way as they escaped with a 3-2 win at home. Dias was leading 3-0 but the guests hit back and scored 2 goals in the 33rd minute making the rest of the contest a derby. Finally the just recently promoted Olimpiada came away with a vital win at Ermis. The team that won their promotion only a week ago managed to surprise their opponents and win three very important points for their survival this year. The game was full of intensity and saw 4 red cards.
Nomikos had 4 goals for the losing side and Panou 2 for the winners. The Hellenic League will progress with Day 2 next Monday where the derbies between Platon - Dias and Athina '90 - Ethnikos Asteras stand out among others.
Olimpiada takes its place in the 1st DivisionOlimpiada Ag. Paraskevi won the play-out game on Sunday and has claimed a spot in the 1st Division of the Hellenic Championship. After the sudden dismissal of Doukas, the Hellenic Federation proclaimed a match between runner-up teams from last year’s 2nd Division finals. Elefsina and Olimpiada met in neutral pitch (Keratsini) on Sunday and played a very stressful game due to very little time for preparation. Olimpiada was the winner 5-4 mainly due to their more experienced squad. Olimpiada marks the third promoted team this year and will face Ermis in the first day of the Championship next week. They return in the 1st Division after two years by capitalizing on this unexpected opportunity.
