Fiji Times on lineSuper Six nears end(Friday, October 21, 2005) THE final round of the Pepsi Super Six national league competition will be played next weekend.
It will be a hectic schedule for Inter-District champion Lautoka which will feature twice in the final round.
The Blues will take on City Security-sponsored Nasinu side at Churchill Park next Friday and will host Southern Forest Navua in the next 48 hours.
Lautoka has an outside chance of securing the third spot but this will only happen if Rewa loses both of its encounters this weekend.
The Delta Tigers take on Lautoka tomorrow and then face Tavua on Sunday.
The soccer season has been prolonged because of the remaining matches in the national league.
The postponement of national league matches has been the main contributing factor for the extension of the soccer season.
This year's competition has been marred by a series of protests, appeals and arbitration.
An arbitration will be held next week to determine the outcome of two protests. Suva lodged an arbitration after losing its protest against Nadi while Savusavu lodged an arbitration after it lost its protest against Taveuni.
Only after the arbitration decision will the two teams for the promotion-relegation series be determined.
Fiji Football Association chief executive Bob Kumar said the presentation of the national league prizemoney would be held next month.
He said this would be held after the final spots on the points table were determined. Ba, which won the national league last year, has successfully retained the title.
The Men in Black will receive $16,000 and $4000 worth of sporting gear for finishing on top.
Meanwhile, the Fiji FA Futsal committee is organising a number of five-a-side tournaments A national primary school 5-a-side soccer championship is also planned.
Apart from the open national club and business house 5-a-side event, the Futsal committee is also orgainsing a 5-a-side IDC tournment at the Na-tional Gymn.
