BASIC INFORMATION



After the success achieved in the first six editions, the prestigious international female football five a side tournament, organised by the Kerylos-Aics Association in Olzai (web www.calcetto.net/kerylos), moves from the granitic mountains of Barbagia to the pleasant valleys of Baronia, another part of Sardinia which is rich of history and natural beauty.

The athletes participating to the tournament will have the opportunity to compete for the sought after trophy, but also the chance to spend a pleasant and unforgettable time in the renowned seasides of Cala Liberotto and Cala Ginepro, which boast the most unpolluted and crystal waters of the Mediterranean, plus bays sand beaches of extraordinary beauty.

Therefore, starting from the 2002, the tournament will be called Trofeo Barbagia & Baronia, and will take place entirely in the hospitable town of Galtellì, where the opportunity will arise to visit its characteristic historical centre and its priceless artistic heritage.

The matches will take place during the late evening at a synthetic grass field belonging to the county park Malicas, at the bottom of the ancient Castle Guzzetti, magically illuminated by the brightness of millions of stars.

In this suggestive mediterranean atmosphere and with the participation of hundreds of fans, the challenge between European and worldwide stars of female football will be renewed.

The games will take place between june 24 and 29, 2002 following the traditional organisational frame: 6 teams divided in two half of the seasons, 3 qualification games (on monday 24, tuesday 25, wednesday 26), semi-final (thursday 27); finals, awarding ceremony and farewell party forecast for saturday 29.

The football field has a dimension of 44 x 24 metres. The technical rules will be same of the one adopted by the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio, affiliated to the U.E.F.A.

The participants will be hosted in the comfortable hotels and villages of the Orosei Gulf, situated at 15 minutes from the football field and near by a beach.

Even if this tournament has already reached a top level both for the technical level and the quality of the show provided, it keeps the promotional aim of spreading the female "futsal" in Sardinia.

Participation is therefore welcome for all the teams of any nation ("senior" category), either belonging to clubs, federations, regional/national delegates with adequate curriculum.

The arrival in Sardinia of the host delegation is fixed for sunday 23 june, and the departure for sunday 30 june, with 7 overnight stays.

There is also the possibility of anticipate or extend the stay in the island at bargain conditions.

The foreign delegations host in the tournament must be composed of no more than 13 people (10 playing athletes, 2 managers or technical supporters, and a mandatory interpreter.)

The booking fee is fixed at 1.800 Euro, and includes full board for the entire delegation, transfers to and from the Olbia airport, and trips as included in the general programme of hospitality.

The teams who are interested in participating to the 7th edition of the Trofeo Barbagia & Baronia 2002 must send to the Kerylos-Aics Association a detailed sport curriculum, supported by the appropriate documentation, such as photocopies of articles in the papers, certificates of their Federations, etc.

More detailed information regarding the technical programme and the stay in Sardinia will be given after the organising committee will have valued the curriculum; the committee reserves the right to invite to the tournament the teams who offer the best technical references and guarantees.
