Iran to field futsal team at UAE tourney

Iran's Futsal Committee head Sadeg Deroudgar here Monday said national team will represent the country in an international tournament in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

Deroudgar, who talked to IRNA, added six foreign teams of Iran, Italy, Brazil, Romania, England, and Egypt will participate in the Dubai-based competitions, which will start on January 26.

He said the first training session for the international tournament has been scheduled for December 10 and 20 national players will attend the meet.

The second session, the official added, has been slated for December 27, when the squad will play friendlies against the country's top teams to prepare for the event.

According to Doroudgar, the team comprising 14 players will leave for Dubai on January 25.

The seven-time Asian champion Iran is getting ready for the continent's eighth edition in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, next May.
