third Chinese University Futsal League is about to start at the end of 2005. The 2005-2006 season, that has got the new name
"Uni Five", will take place in 14 regions and cities: Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning, Shandong, Sichuan, Shanxi, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Fujian, Hunan, Hubei, Yunnan.
The new season has been planned into 3 stages of regional selections, north and south regional finals and national home and away finals. The 14 regions and cities have been divided into north and south regions. In the regional finals stage, each region has 7 regional champions to play. Four teams will qualify from two regions to the national finals to play against each other in home and away matches in order to conquer the championship.
It is believed that the modification on the fixture will bring more exposure on national TV, which could enhance the interest of more universities to take part in this tournament.
The third China university league is organized by the Federation of University Sports of China and the Beijing Lining sport development company. And it is under auspice of the China football Association.
The second Chinese University futsal league has been played from November 2004 to June 2005. It attracted 230 universities participating in this league across the whole country. The Shanghai based
Donghua university won the championship. The first Chinese University futsal league was inaugurated in October 2003 and finished in July 2004. There were 295 university teams from 13 regions all over China taking part in the league. The
Shenyang University of Technology became the first National Championship.
