GHAZ RAMLI Dec 27THE Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) arsenal is expected to be Police’s top worry.
Notwithstanding, Police are looking forward to their Group A opener of the South Zone in the inaugural Celcom National Futsal League.
“They (RMAF) should not be taken lightly as they have been impressive, as attested by their winning the Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) league earlier this year,” said Chief Inspector Mohd Dali Wahid, Police’s head coach, on the tournament due to kick off on Jan 6.
Dali, who was also Police’s head coach in last season’s Premier League, believes the tournament is considered an open competition depending on the teams’ consistency.
“Consistency is important in futsal as the game in fast,” said Dali, whose team won the last National futsal tournament.
He added tough competition is expected from the Selangor Sukses FC (Umno) team, who are in the same group, which has also the the Johor FA Jitu Jati team. The Southern Zone matches will be played at the Johor Baru City Hall.
Thirty-three teams will be playing a total of 66 matches in four zones in the first phase of the tournament.
Apart from JB City Hall, matches will also be played on Sundays at Titiwangsa Stadium in Kuala Lumpur for the Central Zone, Sports Planet in Penang (Northern Zone) and Sukpa in Kuantan (Eastern Zone)
The four top clubs from each zone will qualify for the second phase, which is the National Club Championship (NCC).
