The Malay MailFUTSAL: Perak DBI relaxed By GHAZ RAMLIJan 3DUBBED the toughest group, Perak DBI are however happy to be in Group A with tournament favourites in the inaugural Celcom National Futsal League which begins on Friday nationwide.
Perak are grouped with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ), two teams highly rated for the championship.
“If we qualify for the second round at least one of the two teams will not be a threat in the knock-out stage,” said the team’s assistant manager Mohd Zamri Zukfli.
A total of 66 matches will be played in each zone in the first phase which is divided into four zones (Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern).
Each zone is divided into two group in which the four top clubs from each zone will qualify for the second phase, which is the National Club Championship (NCC).
“We have already won most of the Northern Zone tournaments so we are confident of beating the eight teams from the Northern and Eastern zones.”
“Unfortunately, for us the hard work comes first as DBKL and MPSJ, who are among the top teams in the competition, are grouped with us,” said Zamri.
The other two teams in Group A are the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and Hyundai Sime Futsal Club.
From the Southern zone, Zamri is expecting the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) to emerge tops.
“The players have been preparing for the past two months but the centralised training only begun two weeks ago,” said Zamri on the squad who trains at the Indera Mulia Stadium.
