Futsal On LinePanamerican Futsal Club Championship Reaches Final StageSANTA CRUZ DE LA SIERRA, Bolivia (1-8-06) - The final stage of the Panamerican Futsal Club Championship will be held here in March with four finalists representing Venezuela, Peru, Paraguay and Bolivia.
The two finalists from the Southern Group were already known since last November in Uruguay, where Club Simon Bolivar from Asuncion, Paraguay, and CRE of Santa Cruz De La Sierra, Bolivia finished 1st and 2nd respectively.
The Northern Group finalists were determined on December 11 in Lima at the Coliseum Mariscal Caceres de Chorillos when a capacity crowd of 5,000 witnessed an exciting final in which UGMA of Venezuela won 4-3 over Deporcentro Casuarinas of Peru.
The referees of the Northern final were Andrew Jasinski of Canada and Sergio Castro of Colombia. Other tourney referees included Hector Lozano of Peru, Andries De Lannoy of Dutch Antilles and Oscar Infante of Venezuela.
All games were broadcast by National Peruvian TV (Chanel 7).
The club championship is taking place under the auspices of the Peruvian Futsal Federation, Panamerican Futsal Confederation and Asociación Mundial de Futsal (AMF), the original world governing body for Futsal. The AMF's competition committee includes Juan Granadas (Paraguay), Gustavo Rubio (Peru), Christian Prevost (Canada), Patricio Ortiz Alarcon (Ecuador) and Jaime Arroyave (Colombia).
Northern Group Final standing:
1st- Gold Trophee: UGMA/Venezuela
2nd-Silver Trophee: Deporcentro Casuarinas/Peru
3rd-Bronze Trophee: Toronto Sport Pereira/Canada
4th: Clube Jair-Nato/Ecuador
5th: Clube Fusion del Liceo San Antonio/Costa Rica
6th: Deportivo Casanare/Colombia
7th: Ejercito Peruano/Peru
8th: Club San Lucas/Dutch Antilles
