Dell hands duo berths

England Coach Graeme Dell has named his 14 man squad for the forthcoming DSF Tournament in Dubai later this month and the home internationals in February versus Finland.

There are first time call-ups for Histon’s former Ipswich Town starlet Erkan Okay and Everton’s former England U16 goalkeeper Shaun Lake.

The continually improving and irrepressible Marc Canham (pictured), along with Glen Harris and AFC Wimbledon’s Rob Ursell, are included once more having successfully recovered from injury.

Salisbury City’s Alex Haddow, who impressed with two goals on his debut in Lithuania in November, is rewarded with another call-up as is John Atkinson, who despite being totally deaf has become well suited to this fast moving indoor game.


Commenting on the squad announcement exclusively to The FA.com, Graeme Dell said: "We know these will be a series of tough friendlies against some of the best players in world futsal, but at last we have a group of very capable futsal players on our F30 programme who are all challenging for places on the squad.

"Although it’s a slightly different squad from that which gave me such encouraging performances against Lithuania in November, these games allow me to blood more players on the international stage and prepare them for our showcase games at home to Finland a week later".



England, currently 66 in the World Futsal Rankings, will be drawn in a three team pool for the group stages with two other nations from either Brazil, who are currently ranked third, Italy (second), Asian champions Iran (ninth), Romania (16) and African Champions Egypt (18), at the showcase event.
