The Malay MailFUTSAL: Easy for DBKL, MPSJGhaz Ramli
Jan 10:
AS expected the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) are through to the second round of the inaugural Celcom National Futsal League.
The two teams, who competed in the Central Zone, booked a place in the final 16 after beating the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) 6-5 and the Teluk Intan Municipal Council (MPTI) 10-2 respectively.
However, MPSJ’s manager Radzi Arshad admitted the second round would be tougher with the presence of the Malaysian Armed Forces and two teams from Kelantan.
“The Armed Forces have been our worry since the tournament started. They have been winning consistently despite playing some top teams in the Southern Zone,” added Radzi.
Radzi said the two teams from Kelantan would be tough opponents.
Kelantan A and B, who competed in the Eastern Zone along with Pahang and Terengganu, made it after beating Norlin-Terengganu 7-2 and Norlin-Pahang 4-2.
“I know Kelantan fielded new squads for the tournament but we haven’t seen them play. Since both teams made it through I’m expecting tough resistance from them,” said Radzi.
