Hellenic 1st Division Heats Up

Athina '90 got tied up on Friday by a passionate Platon team. The greatly expected derby between this year's top teams did not leave fans dissatisfied.
The game was balanced all through and very exciting as both teams gave it their best. Athina '90 got a first half lead 3-0 mainly due to the good performance of international star Ilias Mpousmpouras. Platon seemed overwhelmed and unable to come back. The second half was a different story though, as Dimitri Nicolaou's team came back and got the lead in the score 4-3 at the 32' with goals by Mostrios, Morfesis, and Kouvaras. The game got tied in the last minute with a controversial penalty awarded to Triantis and scored by Gaifilias.
Final score 4-4, left both teams satisfied but also bitter about the
lost opportunity to step away in the table. After the addition of live TV broadcasts, the Hellenic Championship is seeing even more action and spectacle in this year's run for the title.
Platon, Athina '90, and Doukas have broken away from the rest and have assured three of the final four spots for the play-offs. All three have managed to distance themselves from the rest and the race for the Championship will be fierce. The remaining position for the top four will be battled by Ethnikos Asteras and Kosmos VP as they are close all through the year.
Dias Ilioupolis and Iniohos will certainly partake in the 4-8 placement tournament, while Salamina and Olimpiada seem to have managed to hold on to the first division already. The battle for relegation is also heating up as Minotavros and Ermis will battle it out to see who will join the already relegated Panelefsiniaki. The results of the past week were:

Before round 16, was played the postponed match of the 14th round: the eagerly expected battle between Athina 90 and Platon. At the end of an impressive match, both sides had to accept a 4-4 draw and will keep on figthing for the regular season "temporary" title.
