UEFAChico salvages Charleroi prideWednesday, 1 February 2006by

Outgoing UEFA Futsal Cup champions Action 21 Charleroi ended their disappointing campaign on a high as Chico Paulista scored twice to inspire them to a 3-2 victory against Group B hosts KMF Marbo Beograd.
Sosa strikesMFK Dinamo Moskva's win against FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the early game meant the Beograd knew that they could not reach the semi-finals, while two defeats had left the holders eliminated on Monday. Chico Paulista broke the deadlock in the fourth minute after being teed up by Robinho, but the lead proved short-lived and Igor Sosa soon equalised after a superb through-ball from Predrag Rajic. The forward added another from the penalty spot on ten minutes to hand the home team the initiativem but by half-time the score was locked at 2-2 after Julio Cesar fired into the corner of the net following a quickly-taken free-kick.
Charleroi consolationBeograd battled back after the restart, as Rajic, Sosa and Bojan Pavicevic all went close but with the Serbo-Montenegrin outfit pressing, Chico Paulista settled the match at the other end with a clinical finish. The result leaves Beograd at the foot of Group B, but Charleroi will take little consolation from finishing three points behind second-placed Shakhtar as their title defence was ended.

UEFACirilo spot-kick provides Dinamo fillipWednesday, 1 February 2006by

Brazilian forward Cirilo struck a late penalty as MFK Dinamo Moskva ensured they progressed to the last four of the UEFA Futsal cup as second qualifying round Group B winners with a hard-fought victory against FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
Joan failureCirilo assumed the penalty-taking from duties from compatriot Joan with just six minutes to go, after the regular spot-kick taker had failed with an earlier effort. But Cirilo made no such mistake as he swept the ball in after Alexandre Rakhimov had been felled, to leave Shakhtar with the consolation of having already booked their semi-final berth. However, they must meet Group A winners Boomerang Interviú over two legs in March, while Dinamo play Kairat Almaty.
Dinamo edgeThe game started prosaically, with neither side willing to commit players forward. Pelé and Igor Moskvychov had half chances at either end but the encounter sparked to life when the Russian side were awarded a penalty. Joan's weak shot was comfortably saved by Vladyslav Kornyeyev, however, and the Ukrainian goalkeeper had to be alert again on ten minutes to keep out another Joan effort.
Late dismissalThe second half saw much of the same, with Shakhtar happy to sit on their perch at the top of the section and Dinamo eager to hold on to the point that would ensure their progress. In the end they earned all three though as Sirilo's clinical penalty ensured the Russian side finished top of Group B, two points ahead of Shakhtar, whose hopes of a late equaliser disappeared when they were reduced to five men with two minutes left.
