National League: Fit MPSJ going for the kill

AFTER two circuits, the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) team manager Radzi Arshad and skipper Mohd Zary Afandi are confident of their side’s chances of emerging overall champions in the ongoing inaugural Celcom National Futsal League.

“It is crucial we finish among the top three in the next circuit as it will be enough to secure the title,” added Radzi.

Although MPSJ are currently leading the points table after finishing runners-up in the first two circuits with six points, MPSJ are, however, closely followed by the Alor Star Municipal Council (MBAS) who are currently with five points.

“They (MBAS) are a strong team and I am confident we will be grouped together in the next circuit. We have to beat them in the group match to avoid a clash with them in the semi-finals,” said Zary.

Although without stalwart Jerry Pereira in attack, Zary is happy with the team’s performance.

“Our fitness have improved after the two circuits which has helped the team’s consistency,” added the 27-year-old skipper.

"He is our key player up front but the team have learnt to play without him as I believe the team will still be able to put up a challenge for the title," said Radzi.

Radzi also said Zary has been working harder in the absence of Pereira who injured his left knee.

The first two circuits was held at the Johor Baru City Hall and the Sukpa Hall in Kuantan. The third circuit will be held at the Penang City Hall next month.
