MFA planning to create futsal national team

The Malta Football Association is planning to set up a national Futsal team which would take part in the UEFA European Futsal Championship.

Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday, MFA president Dr Joe Mifsud said the association will be working on the creation of a Futsal national team.

Taking part in the UEFA Futsal Championship would mean that Malta would be taking part in all competitions organised by UEFA for national teams at all levels, except for the Women's Under-19 competitions.

Dr Mifsud will be looking forward to appoint a national coach. The choice could fall on a foreign coach if there are now local coaches who hold the right qualifications.

Meanwhile through collaboration with FIFA, the Malta Football Association will be holding a four-day seminar on Futsal coaching and refereeing. The course will be held between March 30 and April 2 at the Corradino Pavilion.
