DOUBLE DISASTER

In any sport any team which name is CSKA has no right to lose when plays against Spartak, Moscow, its main rival and, if we follow fans' mind – its main enemy. Unfortunately, the last Russian Futsal week-end was coloured in red and white. CSKA lost twice and for the supporters that became a matter of humiliation or insult. For four months and a half the red and blue fans had waited for a derby hour. It came to make them unhappy. As a result, at the moment CSKA went down to the seventh position in the table with four points distance to Spartak, Moscow.

MATCH 1
Nothing suggested CSKA should suffer disaster. The fact that the first match of round 15 began with a wave of red and white attacks did not mean anything terrible for the guests. The starting period was typical of any match when a club that hosts a pitch usually acts more actively and aggressively from the very beginning. The first Spartak assault ended with nothing, so, CSKA players got a little time to recover their lines and prepare a shocking answer. Alexander Antipov managed this. While jumping, he received a ball and shot with his head. The goal (the first and the last for the Red Army team) looked beautiful. The ball touched the hands of Spartak keeper Andrew Tveriankin, then a post and only after that crossed the goal line. In half a minute the events changed radically. Gennady Ionov, ex-CSKA scorer, equaled a score after a smart short on the right upper angle – 1:1. From this moment and till the end of the first part the spectators could see only one team on the ground that did all it wanted. Any minute CSKA was under pressure and danger to miss more and more. Spartak strikers, especially Brazilian internationals, missed the target time after time. Sometimes, Futsal Fortune really was sorry for CSKA. Obviously, there was a moment of mercy when CSKA did not miss even if Oleg Tolstikhin was unable to fix a ball.
At the same time, possessing a ball more, moving on the pitch much faster than their opponents, the red and white got real advantage that was to turn into some goals. The hosts scored because it was honest and just and was a consequence of what was happening on the ground.
At 14' Kazakov shot on the left upper angle. At 19' his partner Iskusnikh ran closer to Tolstikhin who did not fix a ball, he dropped it, Iskusnikh shot on the empty net. So, the first part came to the end. The CSKA fans hearts were wounded, their souls were full of disappointment. They had to wait for any kind of miracle.
After interval CSKA played better. The team had nothing to lose except its honor. But the score did not change. The result of the first part became the final one. At the end the warriors pressed Spartak at any part of the pitch and had got two, maybe three opportunities to change the score to the better. But Tveriankin defended the net as a tiger its lair. The last chance was missed by Alexander Antipov, whose shot was blocked by Dmitry Gorin who specially fell down to save his team.

Alexander Babkin, CSKA head coach:
- "I congratulate my colleague, Mr. Lovchev, with a good victory. The opponents deserved it, no doubt… My players got frightened to resist Spartak pressure. They looked weak, they did not know what to do. In the first part we were smashed by the red and white. 1:3 was a result of the first part. It was a good result. We could lose much more. The second part seemed more equal. If luck had gone by our side, we would have made a draw."

MATCH 2
The second derby day also brought disappointment to CSKA fans. They believed that on the following day the red and blue guys would take a revenge. The first 20 minutes gave them hope. The point is that CSKA played more interesting and with more positive emotions than a day before. The first 15 minutes did not determine a team that could be a favourite in the match. But for the last 5 minutes the guests attacked as beautiful as dangerous. But hardly effective. It is enough to say that CSKA players got 5 opportunities running to score. Only one chance was taken. At minute 20 CSKA veteran Vladimir Kolesnikov shot on empty net. Before that the attempts of Filippov, Kolesnikov and Filippov (two) had been failed.
The start of the second part was fatal for CSKA. Its advantage disappeared immediately. As it became known later, Spartak needed just seven minutes to win. For the mentioned period the host team four times made its stands fall into madness. CSKA fans did not keep silent. They answered, shouting as loud as possible: “We believe in the team!”. When at 36' CSKA captain Alexander Antipov decreased score difference, they set hopes on a draw. But that day was not coloured in red and blue either. While attacking with five field players, the Red Army team missed two goals… The smart shot by one more Antipov – Serguei – meant nothing.
So, Alexander Babkin and his guys lost their main matches of the season…

Alexander Babkin, CSKA head coach:
- "I cannot criticize my players for the first part. Then they played close to their goal-line. I did not ask them to play this way. I did not ask them to keep a 1:0 score. They made different mistakes, foolish mistakes. It was difficult to recover… To reconstruct the playing. The team did not die. It went on resisting. We had some chances to score. But really it was late to change something…"
