Doukas has taken the lead in the race for the championship after the completion of Day 1 last night. The game against Ethnikos Asteras ended with a 6-3 triumph for the experienced Doukas squad who is now placed at the top of the table. The game was closed in the first half as Asteras was leading up until the last minute 2-1. Doukas scored a vital tying goal at the 20’ to end the half. Second half was a different story as the home team raised their game and secured the win with Oikonomou scoring 3 goals. Goalkeeper Christos Ahis was in a very good day replacing the carded Kostas Pappas. Doukas will lose Alkis Vandoros as he was sent off in the last minute and will be missing the next game against Platon on Monday. For the guests who seemed inexperienced, international striker Spiros Gritsalis and goalkeeper Ilias Mexis were among the best.
