The Dodge Rams are the 2006 Gatorade/GFA Men's Futsal League champions.
Like the earlier consolation game between the Crushers Orange and the 76 Strykers, which went into overtime, the 2006 championship game between Guam Shipyard and the Rams, featured solid footwork and lightning speed. In the end, the faster and better team took the 6-5 win.
The Rams' Eric Sotto scored the first goal of the game off an assist by Ian Mariano.
But Shipyard's Chris Santos responded later with a goal of his own after recovering the ball from Rams keeper Francis Chargualaf in front of the net.
On a pass from Jared Quichocho to the corner, Napu Borja connected on his kick to put Shipyard up 2-1 with 9 minutes, 47 seconds left in the half.
Borja's teammate, Shintaro Yamamoto, quickly scored on a drive down the middle to help his team pull away 3-1.
But with 5:35 left, Scott Leon Guerrero scored off an assist by Sotto, followed by Mariano to tie things up at 3-3.
In the second half, Mariano scored the first two goals before teammate Leon Guerrero added another.
Shipyard's Quichocho scored both of his teams' two goals in the second half.
According to Rudy Manglona, league official scorekeeper, it was the second time in two years Shipyard has fallen just short of capturing the title. Last year, Shipyard lost to Quality Distributors in the finals.
The third-place finish went to the Crushers Orange, who beat the 76 Strykers 11-10 in overtime with a goal by Jason Lujan.
