Solomon StarCSP help decentralise futsalSOLOMON Islands Sports Coalition in collaboration with the Solomon Islands Football Federation is helping futsal develop further.
Eddie Omokirio of the SI Sports Coalition said the coaching and refereeing course outside of Honiara are under the sponsorship of the Community Sector Programme (CSP).
He said CSP has enabled futsal coaching and refereeing courses to be conducted in Ghaobata, Duidui (Guadalcanal), Yandina (Central), Auki and Malu’u (Malaita).
Omokirio added that monitoring and evaluations courses will be conducted in Gizo and Munda soon.
He said CSP has also sponsored two Under 14 boys futsal players to accompanied those who will be running the courses around the provinces.
“We are hoping that soon our grassroot programme will cater for other provinces and communities.”
He thanked all coaches, referees, players, parents and supporters for their contribution to this programme.
“Our futsal office is receiving requests everyday for assistance, but we can just do things progressively to try and cater for the high demand.
“May I inform every community that are interested to develop futsal that we do not have many balls to deliver.
“However may I advise you to use football balls but play under futsal laws of the game.
“We can only provide you with information. Other matters should be requested through provincial football associations,” he added.
Omokirio also thanked partners Dural Sports and Leisure Centre in Sydney and other partners for creating and facilitating an avenue for unity through futsal.
Meanwhile coaches from Dural Sports and Leisure Centre in Sydney will be arriving on April 18 to conduct coaching and refereeing course in Isabel Province.
He said this has been arranged with the Isabel Football Association.
Few days after their arrival, they will be accompanied with a team to do futsal coaching and referee clinics in Buala.

He added that a similar course for Auki and Malu’u in Malaita Province has been postponed to a later date in May.
