FIFA Futsal Course in Malta

The MFA, through its Futsal Committee under the Chairmanship of the Association's vice-president John Farrugia and committee secretary Mario Gauci, is currently organising courses for Futsal Referees and Coaches. The activity is being held under the auspices of FIFA.

The Courses, staged at the Corradino Sports Pavilion, Paola, are over four whole days and will come to an end on Sunday at 6.00pm.
The event was opened on Thursday morning when the MFA President Dr Joe Mifsud addressed the participants. The courses are being conducted by Mico Martic and Perry Gautier, FIFA Officials for Futsal Coaches and Referees respectively.

The intensive programme comprises theoretical and practical sessions in both coaching and refereeing fields, including a thorough
insight of technical developments in this area of indoor football which is becoming increasingly popular in many countries.
A distinguished guest speaker is Petr Fousek, Chairman of UEFA Futsal Committee, who delivered a talk to the course participants this morning and will give another exposition to Futsal Club Administrators relating to their work on Saturday morning at the Centenary Hall, Ta' Qali, starting at 9.30am.

The participation in these courses is very good and this is proof that the sport in Malta has come a long way since it was introduced on the Island some years ago.
