MALAYSIA BID TO HOST FUTSAL EVENT

KUANTAN: Malaysia have made a bid to host the world Futsal championship next year, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said yesterday.
He said the matter was still being discussed with the event organiser ESPN but expressed confidence that Malaysia would be given the honour to host the five-a-side championship.
"They (ESPN) were impressed with our organisation of the recent Asian X-Games.
Therefore, I am confident of getting their agreement to bring Futsal to Malaysia," he told reporters after the opening of the national martial arts championships here.
Hishammudin said he did not know if other countries were also bidding for the championship.
