Net Stars win Futsal's Second Division

Two goals in the last minute gave Net Stars victory over Scandals Bar and the title of Futsal (indoor 5-a-side version of football) Second Division Champions.

After a quiet first half, that concluded itself in a 1 - 1 draw, Scandals Bar took hold of this final match by succeedeing to scored three times without reply.

But Net Stars did not surrender and carried out a superb comeback to reach a 4 - 4 draw. Then, with just one minute to the final whistle, Net Stars scored again and in the last gasp of the match they found the net again to make it 6 - 4.

This match was refereed by Mr. Stephen Mallia and Mr. Norman Vella, while Mr. Franco Cachia acted as time-keeper.

Both Net Stars and Scandals Bar were promoted to play in the First Division next season. They will be joined by Safi Southsiders and Jeepers F.C., who finished as runners-up in their respective section.

The Third Division league was won by Warriors, who in the final match defeated Thomas Cook SISA. Both teams were promoted to the Second Division together with Stingrays and RMF Wolves.

The only Futsal honour still to be won is the Knock-Out competition, of which first round kicks off today. In this competition all First and Second Division teams will take part together with the four teams that achieved the promotion from the Third Division. The final match of the Knock-Out is scheduled for Monday 22nd May
