The AFC.comJapan futsal team to play two friendlies25 April 2006 TOKYO: The Japan futsal team will play two friendlies against Brazil in the run-up to the AFC Futsal Championship.
The first match will be held in Osaka (May 3) and the second in Tokyo (May 5).
Brazilian coach Sapo has selected 14 players for the friendlies and the AFC Futsal Championship which will be played in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from May 21-27. Japan, who lost to Iran in the final last year, are in Group B with Tajikistan, Iraq and Hong Kong for the AFC Futsal Championship.
In another related development, the Japan Football Association has announced that a national futsal league would be launched next year, most probably in September 2007. The league is likely to have eight teams playing on a round-robin system from September to March.
