The BFA (Bahamas Football Association) Gatorade Futsal League got underway with three very exciting and enthralling games on Monday, April 24, 2006. All of the teams saw action on the first night, and while the scene was familiar to most, there were some new faces who were getting their first taste of the indoor game.

In the opening match, newcomers All Black took on defending league champions Superior Warriors. The Warriors showed their class and took the newcomers to task running off three first half goals to go into the break with a 3-0 lead. Three more goals in the second half gave them a comfortable win, but All Black decided that they would not finish the day without any goals. And got one of their own in the second half. Felipe Vega and Ecroy Spence led the way for Superior Warriors, scoring twice each. Stephen Sturrup and Steve Jones got one each to round out the scoring for the Warriors. The All Black lone goal came from Tony Singh.

In the second match of the day, Caledonia FC took on United Kickers in their first match in the league. They certainly didn't look like newcomers though, scoring quick and often in the first half and marching to a 7-0 half-time lead. In the second half, United tightened up their reigns and only conceded four more, while in the process getting two of their own as the match ended 11-2 in favor of Caledonia FC. Andy Graham and Curtis Robinson scored four times for Caledonia. Anthony Brazewell added two more and Garry Markham one to round out the scoring for Caledonia. United's two goals came from Reynold Appoleon and Anton Sealey, each netting once.

The final match of the night saw Cavalier FC take on Bears FC, and the feature match was as promised. Cavalier got an early goal, but Bears replied immediately from the kick-off to level the score. Cavalier fired six more salvos in the first half to take a lead that they never relinquished, to go into the break with a 7-1 lead. Another eight goals in the second half, with the Bears offering none in reply saw the match end 15-1 in Cavalier's favor. Lionel Haven scored seven times to lead the Cavalier attack, with Dexter Thurston adding five of his own. Kevin Davies added three to round out Cavalier's scoring for the night. Larry Minns scored the Bears lone goal.

The action continues this coming Monday at the D.W. Davis gym with another three matches on tap. In the opener at 6:30 pm, Caledonia FC takes on Cavalier FC, followed by Superior Warriors taking on Bears FC at 7:20 pm and United FC facing All Black at 8:10 pm.
