TOR CHITTINANDThailand's futsal (five-a-side) team clinched their fourth Asean title after defeating Indonesia 10-3 in the final of the AFF Championship at Indoor Stadium, Hua Mark yesterday.
Thousands packed the arena to watch the game and defending champions Thailand got off to a good start when Anucha Munjaroen scored in the first minute.
Indonesia drew level in the fifth minute through Issarakul Issa before Lertchai Issarasuwipakorn put the hosts back in front again.
That opened the floodgates and Panuwat Jantha, Anucha Munjaroen and Pattaya Piemkum added to the tally before the break.
In the second half, Jadej Poolperm and Joe Nuenkerd took the score to 7-1 before Andri Itrawan narrowed the gap to 7-2.
That proved a temporary respite as Anucha, Panuwat and Sermphan Kumthinkaew hit the target to make it 10-2.
Handoyo grabbed a consolation effort in the last minute to complete the scoreline.
In the third place play-off yesterday, Burma defeated Cambodia 10-2.
Thailand will now prepare for the Asian Championship in Uzbekistan at the end of the month.
