Futsal: Iran thrash Lebanon in friendly

BEIRUT/BAGHDAD: Seven-time Asian champions Iran thrashed Lebanon 11-3 in the first of their two futsal friendlies at the Saidat Al Jomhour School stadium here on Tuesday.

The winners were leading 6-0 at the breather. The two teams will meet again on Wednesday at the same stadium.

Both the teams are preparing for the eighth edition of the AFC Futsal Championship to be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from May 21 to 27.

Iran have been drawn in Group D alongside Indonesia, Thailand and Turkmenistan while Lebanon are in Group C with Australia, Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan.

Meanwhile, Iraq futsal team will have a training camp in Egypt from May 14 before leaving for Tashkent. They will also play two friendly matches against the Egyptian teams.

Iraq are in Group B with Hong Kong, Japan and Tajikistan.
