Fourteen teams, divided into two groups, will take part in the Costa Rican Women Futsal league 2006 that begins during this week.

Group A:
Goicoechea
Deportivo Las Águilas
Selección Cartaginesa
CCDR Desamparados
Universidad Nacional
Goicoechea-FUTSALA
Pérez Zeledón (title holder)

Group B:
Santo Domingo
Esparza
Municipal Quepos
La Aurora
UCEM-Alajuela
Atenas
CCDR Heredia

The national league will be characterized by two different stages: the Apertura and Clausura tournaments. Each of them will be played on a round-robin system, then the best 4 of each group will qualify for the quarter finals. Semifinals and finals will decide the winner. If the Apertura and Clausura's winners are two different teams, they will play a final match to determine the national champion.
