Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Development emerged as the champion of the Inter-Ministry Futsal Championship in the Open Category when they defeated the Ministry of Religious Affairs `A' 4-2 in the final at the multi-purpose hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on Sunday.
In the Special Category, the Ministry of Religious Affairs `B' emerged victorious after edging the Ministry of Development 2-1 in the final.
The meet was co-organised by the Ministry of Primary Resources and the Public Service Department in conjunction with the 12'h Civil Service Day.
A total of 12 teams participated in the Special Category while 18 teams.- competed in the Open Category.
Special Category Group A consisted of Ministry of Religious Affairs `A', Ministry of Development, Prime Minister's Office `B', Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, and Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports.
In Group B were Ministry of Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs `B', Ministry of Home Affairs, Prime Minister's Office 'A', Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defence.
As for the Open Category, Group A was made up of Ministry of Education, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs `A', Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources and Ministry of Home Affairs 'B'
Group B consisted of Ministry of Health, Ministry of Religious Affairs `B', Prime Minister's Office `B', Ministry of Foreign Affairs `B' and Ministry of Finance `B'.
In Group C were Prime Minister's Office `A', Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Defence `B' while in Group D were Ministry of Defence `A', Ministry of Religious Affairs `A', Ministry of Finance Wand Ministry of Home Affairs `A'.
Present as the guest-of-honour was Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Hamid bin Haji Mohd Jaafar, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.
Finishing in third place for the Special Category were the Ministry of Health who beat Ministry of Religious Affairs `A' 5-4 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 in normal play.
As for the Open Category, the Ministry of Health also took third place defeating the Prime Minister's Office `A' 1-0.
Meanwhile for individual awards in the Special Category, Hj Aziman Hj Zaman of the Ministry of Religious Affairs `B' emerged as the `Best Player' and Hj Md Husni of the Ministry of Development emerged as the `Top Scorer'.
For the Open Category, Serbini Hj Muhidin of the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources won the `Best Player' award while `Top Scorer' was won by Abg Norsilmy of the Ministry of Development. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
