Persibu SMARTER futsal champions

Persibu won the Charity Fundraising Futsal Championship for SMARTER at the Multi Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex yesterday when they defeated AH United 4-3 in a penalty shootout after normal time ended 2-2.

The tournament was organised by Fusion United Sports Club with the objective to obtain funds for Brunei SMARTER Association as SMARTER stands for "Society for the Management of Autism Related Issues- in Training, Education and Resources Brunei Darussalam"

A total of 12 teams competed. Group A was made up of BMB, Fusion United Football Club, ITPSS 'A', Persibu, Sumpit and AH United while Group B consisted of Star Eleven, ITPSS 'B', Pearl Jaya FC, Sniper, Zapper and HSBC.

In the semifinals, Persibu edged Star Eleven 1-0 while AH United defeated Pearl Jaya FC 3-0. The third place was won by Pearl Jaya FC after beating Star Eleven 2-1.

BAFA Vice-President, Pg Hj Ali Hassan bin Pg Dato Seri Laila Jaya Hj Abas gave away the prizes to the winners.

Meanwhile for individual awards, "Best Goalie" was awarded to Yus Kamarul Zaman of Persibu while the "Golden Boot" was won by Sumardi bin Hj Mohd Taib of AH United.
