Team Aba ‘O’ emerge triumphant in final leg to qualify for Grand Finals

PETALING JAYA: Team Aba “O” FC defeated FC 80’s 2-0 to emerge as champions in the final leg of the 14-series Milo Hidup Bola Under-21 futsal carnival held at the Sports Planet Kuching in Sarawak on Saturday.

They now qualify to the 32-team Grand Finals scheduled at the Sports Planet Ampang in Selangor on June 3. A total of 32 teams from the 14 states will be vying for the grand prize of RM5,000 and the overall champions’ trophy. The runners-up will win RM3,000, third place is worth RM2,000 and the fourth-placed team RM1,000.

Tournament director Datuk Dina Rizal said that since the start of the first series on April 1, they had a record 1,008 teams taking part in the competition.

“This makes the Milo Hidup Bola futsal carnival one of the biggest tournaments organised in the country,” said Dina.

Futsal carnival to be an annual affair

KUALA LUMPUR: The “Futsal Milo Hidup Bola 2006” carnival held for the first time for Under-21 teams will be turned into an annual affair as it was well received all over the country.

The tournament director Datuk Dina Rizal said the response exceeded expectation when 1,008 teams applied to took part.

“Due to this, we will continue the event annually to provide more opportunities to futsal enthusiasts to show their skills,” he said after the finals at the Sports Planet Ampang here yesterday.

In yesterday's final Aba 'O' FC from Sarawak defeated Wamo FC from Terengganu 3-0. The RM5,000 cash prize for the winner was handed over by Malaysian football legend, Datuk Abdul Ghani Minhat. – Bernama
