Sheffield FCEngland coach backs boots campaignSheffield FC’s unique campaign to provide football boots to deprived children in South Africa has received support from the Head Coach of the England Futsal team.
Graeme Dell has backed the initiative by donating a pair of his own boots during the FA’s Four Nations tournament in Sheffield.
Sheffield FC aims to raise a minimum of 2007 pairs of cleaned-up football boots for South African townships and help make the game more accessible for thousands of young people.
Graeme said “This is a terrific initiative and I felt I should bring a pair of boots to donate.
“Not only will this campaign help hundreds of under privileged children in South Africa, but it can also help to educate our children about geography, poverty and generosity and the difference a simple act of kindness can make to someone else in the world.”
Graeme was in Sheffield with the England Futsal team competing in the Four Nations Tournament at the English Institute of Sport - Sheffield. Belarus won the group, which also included Belgium and Cyprus, by winning all three matches.
BBC Radio Sheffield is supporting Boots for Africa and was the official media partner for the international Futsal event.
Boots for Africa has been launched as part of Sheffield FC’s 150th anniversary celebrations in 2007 and all the boots donated must be in a good wearable condition and correctly laced and studded.
For teams or clubs wanting to donate more than one pair of boots, a special group donation pack has been produced to assist them. Local businesses and schools can also apply for the pack, which includes posters, leaflets and collection bags.
